The Beginning of a Passion
As a teacher, my journey into the world of candle making began unexpectedly during the days of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. I found a happy distraction in learning the art of crafting handmade candles. Before long, I had turned my kitchen table hobby into a small business because I believed that candles could impact people’s lives in a positive way.
In a fast-paced world filled with modern conveniences, candles stand as a timeless relic of the past. Yet, there’s a reason we keep them around—they’re simply good for the soul. Candles are a reminder of the beauty found in slowing down and reconnecting with the soul.
A Commitment to Giving Back
I have a heart for education, and so I’ve woven a commitment to giving back into the fabric of Salt + Light Co. With every candle you purchase, you become a partner in lighting the way for South African children. A percentage of each candle sale is donated to Heatherbank School, a private, non-profit initiative aimed at providing quality education for children primarily from the Walmer Township in Gqeberha, South Africa.
Inspired by the words of Desmond Tutu, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness,” I am on a mission to spread light and hope through Salt + Light Co. candles.
